Learn what to look for when buying an Attack Titan playmat: material quality, design authenticity, and value for collectors.
Quick answer
For collectors, the Attack Titan playmat offers a quality playing surface and striking design, but its value depends on your priorities: display appeal, gameplay practicality, or long-term collectibility.
Material and durability matter for long-term use
A playmat's material affects how it feels during play and how it holds up over time. Most playmats use a neoprene or rubber base with a cloth top. The Attack Titan playmat uses a standard playmat construction that provides a smooth, non-slip surface for cards. However, if you plan to use it frequently at tournaments, consider that lighter-colored areas may show dirt more easily. For purely display purposes, material durability is less critical than the print quality.
Design authenticity and artistic appeal
The Attack Titan playmat features official Attack on Titan artwork, which is a key selling point for collectors. The design captures the ferocity of the Titan, making it a standout piece for fans. If you value official licensing and accurate character representation, this playmat delivers. However, if you prefer a more subtle or minimalist design, the bold imagery might not suit your taste.
Price and value considerations
Priced at $16.74 (down from $24.99), the Attack Titan playmat offers a significant discount, making it an attractive entry point for new collectors or those expanding their collection. The lower price does not necessarily indicate lower quality—it may reflect a temporary promotion or overstock. For collectors on a budget, this represents good value for an officially licensed product.
Decision rules for collectors
- Prioritize design authenticity: If the primary reason for buying is to display your love for Attack on Titan, choose a playmat with official artwork like this one. Unofficial mats may have lower print quality or inaccurate designs.
- Consider usage frequency: For regular tournament play, look for a playmat with a stitched edge to prevent fraying. The Attack Titan playmat does not specify stitched edges, so it may be better suited for occasional use or display. Check product details for edge finishing if you plan heavy use.
- Evaluate long-term collectibility: Limited edition or exclusive playmats tend to hold or increase value. The Attack Titan playmat is part of a new line, so its collectibility depends on future demand. Buying now at a discount could be a smart move if the design becomes harder to find. Monitor stock levels and consider purchasing early for potential future value.
